Vocal soloist for ‘I Prefer The Georgeous Freedom’ by Gwilym Simcock and The Voice Project LONDON JAZZ FESTIVAL Queen Elizabeth Hall Southbank Centre London Saturday 21st November 2 PM
Gwilym Simcock is emerging as one of the finest of his generation. 28 year old Gwilym Simcock is one of the most gifted pianists and imaginative composers on the British scene. Able to move effortlessly between jazz and classical music, he can at times inhabit both worlds and has been described as stylistically reminiscient of Keith Jarret. Complete with ‘harmonic sophistication and subtle dovetailing of musical traditions’ as well as being a pianist of exceptional, brilliant and dazzling’ ability. His music ha been widely acclaimed as ‘engaging, exciting, often unexpected, melodically enthralling, complex and wonderfully optimistic’.
The concert will open with a short set from Simcock’s new group. This concert will be broadcast in The Choir on Sunday 27th December 2009
Originally commissioned by Norfolk and Norwich Festival the 100+ strong community choir is conducted by Sian Croose with soloists Sianed Jones
