Creu Vam Asi
A Vibrant Cross Cultural Collaboration
Welsh Singer and Instrumentalist Sianed Jones
and
South Indian Percussionist Divakar Subramaniam
Listening to them perform, you can hear welsh folk melodies,
South Indian rhythms, the harmonies of welsh hymns, the rhythmic language of Konnokol, the poetry of the Welsh language, virtuosic Ganjira playing, thundering violin, and vocals that are vital and deeply soulful. Creu Vam Asi break away from song forms taking the audience with them on a journey of cross cultural improvisation.
Divakar from Chennai in South India and Sianed from Aberaeron in West Wales have between them performed all over the world – Britain, India, America, Europe, Africa, Russia, Mongolia, Kyrgistan and Brazil. They first started working together in 2007 and have performed at a number of venues and Festivals across Wales and England (including The Wales Millenium Centre, Beyond The Border International Story Telling Festival St Donats, The Secret Garden Party Cambridge, Global Village Festival Merthyr Tydfil).
Crey Vam Asi are in the process of recording an album of songs and improvisations.

(Creativity that is)
